1 day Emergency First Aid at Work (Antrim)
March 20
| £706 Hour Emergency First Aid at Work Course
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982 require you to provide adequate and appropriate first-aid equipment, facilities and people so your employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work.
What is ‘adequate and appropriate’ will depend on the circumstances in your workplace and you should assess what your first-aid needs are.
The minimum first-aid provision on any work site is:
- a suitably stocked first-aid box.
- an appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements.
- information for employees about first-aid arrangements.
It is important to remember that accidents and illness can happen at any time. First-aid provision needs to be available at all times people are at work.
Course Content
On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:
- understand the role of the first-aider including reference to:
- – the importance of preventing cross infection;
- – the need for recording incidents and actions;
- – use of available equipment;
- assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
- administer first-aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);

Certification
EFAW certificates are valid for three years. Up to three months before the expiry date, the first-aider can undertake another EFAW course. The new certificate will then be dated from that expiry date. If retraining has not been undertaken during this time, it should be completed within 28 days beyond the expiry date. A new certificate issued during this extension period should be dated from the expiry date of the previous one.
Numbers
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course.
