DESCRIPTION:Re-qualification for those whose 3 Day First Aid at Work certification has expired\nDescription\nIt is a legal requirement under the Health & Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) order 1978 to ensure\, so far as is reasonably practicable\, the health\, safety and welfare at work for all employees. Under the Health & Safety First Aid regulations\, employers shall provide persons\, training\, facilities and equipment to render first aid to their employees should they become injured or ill at work. This is also applicable to non-employees and service users/general members of the public.\nDuration – Minimum of 12 hours\, normally spread over 2 days or 4 evenings. Method of teaching is both practical and theory and flexibility is offered to suit individual needs. \nDuration\n2 Days – Fridays 17 & 24 April 2026 \nCourse Content \n\nLegalities\, RIDDOR\, Reporting\nDisorders of Consciousness\nAction in an emergency\nEye irrigation\nRecognition of Illness\nPrimary and Secondary Assessments\nTransportation of Casualties\nTreatment for bleeding\, fractures\, head injuries\, burns\, allergic reactions\, choking and more…\nResuscitation & CPR techniques\nRecovery position\n\nCertification\nAll students must prove they have an “in-date” First Aid at Work certificate that has not expired before the course starts. All candidates will be tested both practically and theoretically which will be conducted by 2 professionally qualified trainers. On completion\, a new First Aid at Work certificate will be issued\, valid for 3 years from the date of this Refresher course. \nPlease note to avail of this course all learners must produce a valid certificate of competence in First Aid at Work. SUMMARY:1 day Emergency First Aid at Work (Belfast)
DESCRIPTION:6 Hour Emergency First Aid at Work Course\nThe Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982 require you to provide adequate and appropriate  first-aid equipment\, facilities and people so your employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work. \nWhat is ‘adequate and appropriate’ will depend on the circumstances in your workplace and you should assess what your first-aid needs are. \nThe minimum first-aid provision on any work site is: \n\na suitably stocked first-aid box.\nan appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements.\ninformation for employees about first-aid arrangements.\n\nIt is important to remember that accidents and illness can happen at any time. First-aid provision needs to be available at all times people are at work. \nCourse Content\nOn completion of training\, successful candidates should be able to: \n\nunderstand the role of the first-aider including reference to:\n– the importance of preventing cross infection;\n– the need for recording incidents and actions;\n– use of available equipment;\n\n\nassess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely\, promptly and effectively in an emergency;\nadminister first-aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);\nadminister cardiopulmonary resuscitation;\nadminister first-aid to a casualty who is choking;\nadminister first-aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;\nadminister first-aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;\nprovide appropriate first-aid for minor injuries (including small cuts\, grazes and bruises\, minor burns and scalds\, small splinters)\n\nCertification\nEFAW certificates are valid for three years. Up to three months before the expiry date\, the first-aider can undertake another EFAW course. The new certificate will then be dated from that expiry date. If retraining has not been undertaken during this time\, it should be completed within 28 days beyond the expiry date.
